On Wednesday 5th April, three of Griffins' fellows and the director, Chris Leeson, travelled to De Montfort University in Leicester to talk about the society and the work that we do. The event for some 80 probation trainees was arranged by the Probation Insitute and over a third of the audience joined the workshop session in the afternoon to listen to fellows Jean O'Neill, Gareth Hole and Sue Jordan, all probation officers, talk about their research. All felt it had been hugely valuable and a great privilege to have the opportunity to talk to the next generation of probation officers, and to encourage them to think about what they might do themselves. As Chris Leeson said,
'It's about actively participating in a change situation and conducting research to solve the problems that you see in front of you - so being an active stakeholder and also a systems designer (aiming) to influence the shape of the service you work in'.
